Day One Hundred and Thirty-Seven: Tuesday

Title: Day One Hundred and Thirty-Seven: Tuesday Description: SDN clicked today. Mostly. Category: general Date: 2026-10-13 23:00:55 Tags: diary, october, tuesday, ccna

Tuesday. The SDN layer I was dreading started to click today — not all of it, but enough that I can see the shape of what it's trying to do. The key thing for me was reframing it: instead of thinking about it as a new technology, thinking about it as separating things that were always conceptually separate but got tangled together in hardware. Control plane, data plane, management plane. Once you see that separation clearly, the rest follows from it. Should have started there.

Deeper into the automation section — Ansible basics, some NETCONF/RESTCONF. This is genuinely interesting stuff. The idea that you can describe network state declaratively and have the system converge toward it is appealing in a way that the older "log in and configure each device manually" model just isn't. I'm probably more drawn to this section than most of the exam content.

Good Tuesday. The week has traction. That's all I need.
